LOOKING FOR A CALM & QUIET HOME: 4 years old / Approx. 58 lbs.

Hi, I’m Miles, but I answer to the name Boomer. (Please refer to Miles though when inquiring about me as that’s the name all of my records are under.) I had a wonderful home with a great family for 3 years, but unfortunately our home was destroyed by the recent Hurricane, and I had nowhere to go, so Mostly Mutts was happy to take me back. (You see I was with them before I was adopted after being picked up by animal control terribly malnourished and missing half the fur on my body.) I had a very rough start in life, but thankfully was nursed back to good health and adopted. Now my former family is in a tough situation, and they want nothing but the best for me with a new family. So, I’m looking for a calm and quiet-natured dog savvy family to love, as I’m fearful of all things new, loud or too busy. I don’t require many walks or a lot of activity as I most enjoy being inside with my people, though I must have a secure fenced yard to romp around in a bit with my family and of course to go to the bathroom.

• OTHER DOGS/CATS/KIDS: I think being your only pet would be best as I’ve shown avoidance behavior when meeting other dogs, growling, and trying to get away. My former family also says that I’d be best as an only pet. / No cats please. / My former family reported that I did best with older kids who are dog savvy, so if you have kids like this that are also calm and 15+ years old, let’s meet.

• PERSONALITY/ENERGY LEVEL: Due to my start in life, I am cautious and fearful of new people and anything new in general. I may growl at new things, but I have not shown any aggression at all. In my former home, I liked to pick a ‘safe spot’ to hang out which would probably be close to my person. If I’m afraid of something, I’ll retreat to my safe space. My former family found that if you ignore me, I’ll usually come back out on my own once I know I’m safe. I have a silly/sneaky side too and will sneak food from your plate, the counter or anywhere it’s left that I can reach it. I’ll also steal shoes and slippers so keep those put away. Hey, I just think I’m helping you keep a tidy home – lol. I am a huge flight risk due to fear initially, so please don’t let me outside, except in my secure fenced yard. Mostly Mutts recommends relatively dog savvy folks as I am not a first-time dog type of dog. Once I know I’m safe, I’m very friendly, loving and sweet and I love my family a lot! / My former family reported that my energy level was around 3–5 with spurts of running zoomies in our yard.

• SKILLS/CRATE/POTTY: In my former home I knew the ‘sit’, ‘stay’ and ‘down’ commands as well as the statements ‘bedtime’, ‘nite nite’, and “it’s OK” which was used when I wasn’t sure about something or after I alerted to a noise or stranger. I love treats of any kind, so I’m sure you can teach me lots more as well as use treats to help me get used to new people and new things. Now, I’m a student in the Mostly Mutts University training program and I look forward to learning a lot with my trainer who I already love! / I was not crated in my former home as I didn’t like the crate so I got to sleep with my family at nighttime and really liked that. I hope I can do that in my new home. When they were away sometimes during the day I would nap in a darker part of the home. / My potty manners were good in my former home. At first, I liked a family member to come outside with me in our yard so I’ll likely want that in my new home too. Funny thing about me is that I’m treat trained – and my former family said that I will train you to let me out just for the treat – lol.

• LIKES/DISLIKES: I like knowing I’m safe and cared for. I also like lots of soft blankets and I must have a nice quiet fenced yard for playtime. Chew bones are like pacifiers to me, and I love them a lot - they sooth me and prevented undesirable chewing in my former home. Some of my favorites were the Hartz chew and clean bones. I also like balls and sometimes playing ball. After dinner I like a little treat and a chew bone to settle in for the night. / I am frightened by new things, noises, and people so I’m looking for a quiet retreat type home. I also wouldn’t like it if I didn’t get enough love, attention, and training, or if I was rushed into new situations.

• MEDICAL: I'm current on my immunizations, micro-chipped and neutered. I’ve just started on an inexpensive anxiety medication called Fluoxetine to help me adjust to losing my home.

I’m looking for a calm, patient, loving and quiet-natured family that will love me furever! My adoption fee is $299.00, and I’m located in Kennesaw, Ga.
